A dozen Basque organisations, including the Energy Cluster, have launched the Windbox project to implement unique, first-rate equipment that enables subsystems for multi-megawatt wind turbines (over 5MW) to be integrated and validated.
It is the first Advanced Wind Power Manufacturing Centre, which aims to improve the global technological and competitive positioning of suppliers of subsystems and products for the wind power sector in the Basque Country.
The Basque companies, Adwen, Antec, Erreka, Gamesa, Glual,Grupo Wec, Hine and LauLagun, with the driving force of the Basque Energy Cluster, constitute Windbox, with the logistical support of IK4-Tekniker and the funding of the Basque Government's Department for Economic Development and Competitiveness, SPRI and Provincial Government of Gipuzkoa.
