In recent years, wind power has become the main source of renewable energy. It is firmly established in countries like China, Spain, Germany or the USA. In spite of the fact that onshore wind power still has a growth margin, the main markets have diversified in recent years, particularly in emerging countries.

The most important challenge in this field is fostering offshore wind power, or in other words, that generated in wind farms at sea. Specific technology is being developed with high power wind turbines and costs are being reduced by optimising installation, operation and maintenance processes.

The aim of the Cluster is to support the strengthening of the sector's value chain in the Basque Country to continue supplying high added value systems, components and services to the leading global developers and manufacturers of wind turbines. Based on the positioning reached in the onshore segment, we aim to make the most of the opportunity presented by the development of off-shore wind power.
