The visit to the Tecnalia facilities took place on July 17 and was attended by 9 entities - Barbara, BCARE/ CIC EnergiGUNE, Cidetec, Pronutec, R2M Solution, SoC-e, Tecnalia and Uriarte Safybox - who presented the Basque smart grid value chain to the Korea Smart Grid Institute (KSGI).
The Basque Energy Cluster organised an exploratory mission to Australia between July 8-12 with six Basque companies. The aim of the mission was to make contact with large companies that are in the process of developing the country's wind energy sector and to gain a detailed understanding of the government's plans, the country's opportunities and the challenges facing companies in the sector.
For the first time, the Basque Energy Cluster has set up a shared stand at Intersolar Europe called “Solar PV Basque Country,” with the participation of Ormazabal and Sener and several collaborative projects. The event was part of “The smarter E”, which combines the largest exhibition area of the European energy industry with a programme of conferences and parallel sessions, and brought together the leading companies in the solar sector in Munich on 18-21 June.
The Basque Energy Cluster Association (ACE) has co-organised, in conjunction with the ESECA project consortium, the fourth business mission to Africa - this time to Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) - from 3rd to 7th June, with the aim of establishing contacts of interest in that market and generating new opportunities for European companies in the renewable energy and smart grids sectors. 4 European companies from the energy sector, including Cegasa and R2M Solution, participated in the mission.
The biennial European Cluster Conferencetook place in Brussels on 7 and 8 May, bringing together most of the European clusters to discuss the most relevant and current issues faced by the clusters, while also looking to the future and discussing the European policies to be implemented for our organisations. The Basque Energy Cluster participated actively, coordinating and moderating the internationalisation session at the conference, and holding two intercluster project stands, ELBE EUROCLUSTER and ESECA.
On March 22, the Basque Energy Cluster organised a side event during WindEurope Bilbao to discuss the latest developments in operating and maintenance (O&M) techniques for the floating wind energy sector. The event was attended by more than 100 people, one of the largest WindEurope conference side events over the three days.
On March 19, the Basque Energy Cluster, in collaboration with Basque Trade & Investment, organised a welcome session for many of the international delegations attending the WindEurope Bilbao 2024 event. Among those attending were delegations from Scotland, Wales, England, the Netherlands, Turkey, Poland and Japan. The Basque Energy Cluster also organised a number of tours of the Wind Energy Basque Country exhibition hall for some of these delegations on the subsequent days of the fair.
The Basque Energy Cluster and Norwegian Offshore Wind signed an MoU to strengthen collaboration between the Norwegian and Basque offshore wind supply chains. The two entities also organised a seminar on the case study of the DemoSATH project, in which they showed the capabilities of Basque and Norwegian companies in this project and in floating wind power in general. Furthermore, the Basque Energy Cluster co-organised a networking event with Rystad Energy, a Norwegian consulting firm that specialises in the energy sector, to raise awareness of their partnership and to provide information on Rystad's recent report for WindEurope.
The more than 12,000 visitors who attended the event were able to visit the stands of the 45 companies that took part at the joint stand under the “Wind Energy Basque Country” brand, where international meetings, presentations on various R&D projects related to the wind energy sector and relaxed networking moments with local gastronomy took place.
On March 18, the Energy Cluster co-organised an information event with BasqueTrade & Investment and Austrade (Australia's international promotion agency) to raise awareness about energy-related opportunities in Australia. In addition, six Basque companies shared their experiences on developing their business in Australia.
