The 4th of December, José I. Hormaeche, Managing Director of the Basque Energy Cluster, presented at the WindTV OpenStream of WindEnergy Hamburg 2020 virtual event the project PLATOON: “Digital PLAtform and analytic TOOls for eNergy”. PLATOON project is funded under the EU H2020 call “Digitising and transforming European industry and services: digital innovation hubs and platforms”. The concept, objectives and expected outcomes of PLATOON were described, as part of the project’s industrial dissemination activities, which are led by the Basque Energy Cluster.

In his speech Mr. Hormaeche explained the 3 main pillars of PLATOON: interoperability to enable data exchange along th energy value chains; data governance and security through IDS (International Data Space) based connectors, to address the digital sovereignty challenges; and the development of a data analytics toolbox to optimized the energy system management.

He also highlighted that the applications developed will be validated in 7 pilots, being one of them devoted to Predictive maintenance of windfarms in Belgium.

The first digital WindEnergy Hamburg brought the global wind industry together at a challenging time. For four days, three TV studios located in Brussels, Shoreham Port and Hamburg alternated in broadcasting a 35-hour programme of roughly 70 individual shows, reaching out to industry stakeholders in 100 countries. The WindTV live streams engaged with key industry experts as well as government stakeholders and society at large on all continents, despite the global pandemic.
