The solutions developed by the BIDERATU project will be materialised in the form of an integrated modelling and planning tool that will offer informed criteria for strategic decision-making processes (by the authorities and the industrial sector) in regard to the decarbonisation of the Basque Country by 2050.

The tool will make it possible to:

• Develop specific prospective models in the field of defining strategies and developing regional energy transition policies.
• Provide an integral evaluation of the disaggregated environmental, energy-related and socioeconomic impacts of a range of energy system transition scenarios towards a low-carbon economy by 2050.
• Identify the best technology strategies, investment strategies and business models (all based on the circular economy) associated with the decarbonisation of key processes across industrial sectors.
• Reformulate plans, strategies and key values in an ongoing, agile manner over time.

The tool developed by the project also has huge potential for application in other regions and countries, by means of adapting the BIDERATU integrated modelling system to other social and economic frames of reference. In this regard, and in regard to the specialist expertise brought by the project's partners, the scientific and technological knowledge developed by BIDERATU will deliver great differential value to support decision-making processes in the energy transition of other countries and regions.
