The adoption of electric mobility requires a synchronized development of vehicle propulsion systems and recharging infrastructures, in which the interests of stakeholders from the energy and automotive sectors, both of which have a strong presence in the Basque Country, converge.

Technological development in the field of EV charging has made it possible to evolve towards increasingly faster and more powerful solutions, extending the range of vehicles to heavy loads (buses, trucks, etc.). In addition, there are numerous initiatives on the part of operators to accelerate the deployment of recharging infrastructures - particularly fast and ultra-fast - on the main corridors of the road transport network.

Basque companies in the EV charging value chain are well positioned and are strengthening their international presence through expansion into new markets. The objective of the Basque Energy Cluster is to support companies to improve their competitive positioning through technological collaboration and to take advantage of this context of opportunity to explore new business models associated with electric mobility.
