The European Commission's representatives at the meeting facilitated an open question and answer dialogue which confirmed that ELBE EUROCLUSTER is progressing well. They also shared proposals for new approaches to be included in future calls for Euroclusters with EISMEA and DG GROW.
The event was co-organised by the Basque Energy Cluster and the Spanish Wind Energy Association and attended by 11 other entities from the offshore wind value chain, including the Basque companies Saitec Offshore, Sener and Vicinay Marine.
On March 22, a workshop was held at the Bizkaia Technology Park (Zamudio) to disseminate and transfer the results of VIRTGRID “Digital technologies for function virtualisation and interoperability in Smart Grids”, bringing to a close two years of research coordinated by Tecnalia and developed in collaboration with Ingeteam Research Institute, ZIV R&D, UPV/EHU and the Basque Energy Cluster.
The event was held on March 19 at Accenture's headquarters in the Iberdrola Tower in Bilbao and was part of the World Economic Forum's (WEF) “Transitioning Industrial Clusters towards Net Zero” initiative, of which NZBISC is a member. The event focused on exploring the potential of aggregating demand and digital technologies to contribute to a 24/7 clean energy supply and speed up the decarbonisation of industrial clusters, and provided an opportunity for the members of the initiative to share best practices and lessons learned.
The Basque wind energy sector will present its industrial and technological capabilities at the “WindEurope Annual Event Bilbao 2024”, on 20-22 March at the BEC. As well as the 45 companies participating in the joint stand organised by the Basque Energy Cluster under the “Wind Energy Basque Country” brand, another 10 companies will have their own stand at Europe’s most important wind energy event, which is expected to be attended by over 12,000 professionals from all over the world.
The last workshop to disseminate the findings of the KONFLOT project entitled “Control co-design of floating renewables” took place on March 14, with the participation of 10 Basque companies interested in these findings.
On 8 March last, a workshop to disseminate the findings of the EKARRIH2 project "Key technologies for hydrogen transport using liquid carriers" was held, as part of the European Hydrogen Energy Conference (EHEC). It was attended by delegations from many Spanish and international organisations interested in the findings.
Within the framework of the European Hydrogen Energy Conference (EHEC) 2024, which was held at the BEC in Bilbao this year, the Basque Energy Cluster organised two parallel tours of the Basque Country’s unique hydrogen infrastructures on 5 March.
This first meeting of the Electric Charging Sector Forum took place on February 29 at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre (BEC). More than 30 representatives of companies and entities from the value chain took part, sharing their visions on electric mobility and raising a number of technological challenges to be tackled through collaborative projects.
The Basque Energy Cluster is leading the communication and dissemination activities of the European WILLOW (Wholistic and Integrated Digital Tools for Extended Lifetime and Profitability of Offshore Wind Farms) project, coordinated by CEIT, in which the Basque company ALERION is also involved.
