WindEurope Conference & Exhibition (2-4/04/2019)

The International “WindEurope Conference and Exhibition” is going to take place in the Bilbao Exhibition Center (BEC) during the 2nd, 3rd, 4th April. The Basque Energy Cluster is preparing together with the EVE the join participation of Basque enterprises under the trademarked “Wind Energy Basque Country”. The Basque pavilion will be constituted by more than 40 enterprises and organizations, where they will show their capabilities as well as their last improvements in a joint space of 700m2 located in the main hall.

The “Wind Energy Basque Country” stand group together among the 2nd and 4th April the different technological and industrial Basque capabilities. The Basque pavilion will be formed by more than 40 enterprises and organizations:


The Basque Energy Agency (EVE) and the Basque Energy Cluster as copromotes of the stand will also have their own space to promote the different capabilities of the wind energy value chain, as well as the public-private collaboration within the energy sector in the Basque County.

It is expected the assistance of more than 7000 people originating from the whole world. Likewise, the event will focus on both onshore and offshore wind energy, which will be of interest for the different players within the wind energy. The conference program will be cover areas such as the last technological developments in turbines, digitalization, recycle and resource evaluation, storage and system integration and the key financial tendency analysis. From the Basque Energy Cluster, José Ignacio Hormaeche will be participate in two different sessions about: “Maintaining the competitiveness of the European supply chain”   and “Next generation components for wind turbines”  .

From the Basque Energy Cluster we want to leverage the great international impact that it will have the “WindEurope Conference & Exhibition” through the realization of different conferences and activities that will promote the better understanding of the onshore and offshore wind energy



One of the main activities that are going to take place during the whole conference will be the WindTalks [April 2-4], which are organizing in collaboration with the EVE. This activity is based on the talks organization in which different Basque companies will participate together with experts about each topic regarding the following issues: 
  • Life Extension & Repowering (2/4)
  • Digitalization & Remote Monitoring (3/4)
  • New Concepts for Offshore Wind Development (4/4)

The talks will be last approximately 20 minutes and will be held at the EVE stand (1-D30). In them, it will be count on experts collaboration on wind energy from the companies associated with the Cluster such as AEROBLADE , ALERION, NAUTILUS, NEM SOLUTIONS, TECNALIA or IK4 IKERLAN

> DWEA Event - Maintenance & Life Extension [April 1st] 

Another activity that we are co-organizing with the Danish Wind Energy Association is a journey arond new trends in the maintenance and extension of life, in which we will have the participation of IBERDROLA, SIEMENS-GAMESA, LIFTRA, NABLA WIND POWER and NEMS SOLUTIONS

The events is going to take place 1st April in the Bilbao Exhibition Center 5th floor. The main purpose of the event is to create a platform for the exchange of networks and knowledge among the principal enterprises and main Spanish players in the wind market, as well as the Danish one. During the day, selveral talks are going to take place on diferent topics such as: the maintenance of multi-technology or bussiness digitalization, among others.  

Regarding the attendance of the event, point out that is exclusive for the members of the Basque Energy Cluster. 

> NORWEP Event [April 2nd]

From the Energy Basque Cluster, we are coorganizing together with NORWEP (Norwegain Energy Partners) and the Norwegain Embassy, a cocktail which will take place on Tuesday, April 2nd at 7:00 pm at Carton Hotel (Plaza Federico Moyúa, 2, Bilbao).

The Norwegian delegation will be led by the Minister of Energy and will have representatives of EQUINOR, as well as of the rest of the Norwegain wind value chain. The Basque Country will be represented by the Minister of Industry of the Basque Government, Javier Zarraonandia. Moreover, the Norwegian embassy has invited another relevant entities of the sector, having already confirmed their attendance representatives of Ørsted, MHI Vestas and Nexans, among others. 

Regarding the attendance of the event, point out that is excluse and in with limited places.

> Canadian Embassy working session [April 3th]

The Basque Energy Cluster are co-preparing together with the Embassy of Canada an informative session focus on the wind energy sector and the oceans technology in Canada. The event will take place on Wednesday, April 3th at 10:00 in the room H1.3 located in the Pavilion 1 (BEC).

The main issues that will be discussed in the session will be the following: The Canadian wind energy and ocean market; Innovation capacities and access to financiation for R&D and Settle in Canada: a strategic vision.

> Wind Europe Press Trip [April 3th] 

It is a tour directed to media that it will be take place on April 3th during the entire morning. The departure is from Bilbao center and it will be visited the industrial facilities of INGETEAM and VICINAY. The tour will count on with the participation of local, national and international media

> Technical Poster [2-4 April]

The Basque Energy Cluster are going to participate with a Technical Poster in which it will be presented the Marine Renewable Energy (MRE) Partnershipt pilot project on Sensing & Remote Monitoring for wind turbine components suppliers. Currently, the MRE association has established as one of the five regional associations in the Energy S3P Platform launched by EC (DG REGIO). The main objective of this project is to accelerate the processes of digitization of marine wind farms, as well as to facilitate the acquisition and analysis of the data produced in real operating conditions, in order to generate value for all companies in all the levels of your value chains.

> Engineering student Group [April 4th]

In collaboration with the principals engineering schools in the Basque Country and with the main idea of promoting the relation among the Basque Wind Energy sector and universities, 8 students’ groups from the University of the Basque Country, Mondragon University and Deusto University which are interested in the wind energy development will participate in the WindEurope Conference and Exhibition. The Basque Energy Cluster will be the responsible of leading all the groups during the whole morning April 4th.

Each group will be formed by 20 students, the Basque Energy Cluster will present to them the wind energy sector, with the purpose to generate to them a better understanding about the wind energy sector, their relevance within Basque Country, as well as their projection. After the presentation, all the groups will have a guide tour for all the stands that they have more interest. Each group will visit a few stands where different enterprises will explain their principal activities and their interests in relation with the "talent recruitment". The groups will be formed by Basque engineering university students through the following academic areas:

  • Deusto University – Industrial Master of Electric Power Generation and Transformation
  • Modragon University – Students of the second and third year of Energy Engineering
  • UPV-EHU Bilbao - Master's Degree in Sustainable Energy Engineering
  • UPV-EHU Bilbao - Master REM (Master in Renewable Energy in the Marine Environment)
  • UPV-EHU Vitoria - Mechanical Engineering third year students

> MEETING ROOMS [2-4 April]

From the Basque Energy Cluster we have made available to our exhibiting partners two meeting rooms in HALL 1 (rooms H1.2 and H1.3) with the intention of proportionate them the possibility of having different work meetings during the three days.
