Building upon a series of business missions to leading European markets in electric vehicles and storage which were supported by the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, the Basque Energy Cluster has mobilised a delegation of eight Basque entities from the electric mobility value chain to take part in the EVS32 (Electric Vehicle Symposium & Exhibition) on 20, 21 and 22 of May, held in Lyon. The event combines a multi-themed conference format with an exhibition area and a testing space for electric vehicles. It brought together the sector’s leading players with a record of 6,500 attendees, including representatives from IBERDROLA, IBIL, INGETEAM, ORMAZABAL, ZIV, VELTIUM, TECNALIA and FICOBA.

Some of these companies such as INGETEAM, ORMAZABAL and FICOBA had their own stand at the exhibition and were able to take advantage of the international impact of the event to promote the upcoming edition of the Go Mobility Fair. It will be held in Irun on 11 and 12 March 2020 and aims to become the benchmark professional meeting point in Southern Europe for the new mobility value chain.

During their stay in Lyon, the Basque delegation took part in various activities aimed at gaining first-hand knowledge of the global situation of the sector, its main players, and future prospects in the electric vehicle and charging point field. It also had the opportunity to meet key companies and agents in the electric mobility sector such as the CharIN Association that promotes standardising electric vehicle charging points under the CCS protocol, the CHAdeMO Association that is driving the adoption of the Japanese charging standard with the same name, the Norwegian Electric Vehicle Association and Tenerrdis, the Energy Cluster for the French region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alps, along with other electric charging equipment manufacturers and solution providers who had stands at the event.

The mission was completed by attending a large part of the intense panel of conferences and meetings which covered the entire spectrum of topics related to electric mobility, autonomous and connected vehicles, charging infrastructures and storage systems. Special emphasis was placed on V2G (vehicle-to-grid) smart charging technology and its potential to contribute to the stability of the electricity grid and the integration of renewable energies.
