The final meeting of the Working Group reviewed the outcomes for the year and made proposals for 2011. More than 130 participants took part in the session, held remotely. EVE, ACE and PETRONOR, and companies including BOSCH REXROTH, H2SITE, TUBACEX and ZIGOR pitched hydrogen-related initiatives.
The meeting was held remotely on Thursday, 3 December via MS Teams. Structured into four blocks, it kicked off with a few words of thanks from Juan Manuel Fernández of Working Group coordinator, EVE.
As part of the first block, José Ignacio Hormaeche of the Basque Energy Cluster (ACE) summarised some of the main outcomes attained by the Group, including bringing together 182 representatives from 95 organisations, defining and configuring the hydrogen value chain in the Basque Country, presenting 8 initiatives from key Basque Country businesses, attracting another 51 companies, and defining a technology development road map with challenges and opportunities for 2030, with input from 31 organisations to date.
In the second block, Elias Unzueta (PETRONOR) outlined the Technology Roadmap drawn up with input from the participants, stressing that the document is key to obtaining an overall perspective of the interests of Basque companies and the foremost partnership opportunities available.
BOSCH REXROTH, H2SITE, TUBACEX and ZIGOR then highlighted their skills, experiences, interests and partnership opportunities within the framework of the hydrogen economy.
Lastly, after closing the Group, José Ignacio Hormaeche summarised the initiatives proposed for 2021, including incorporating hydrogen into the EnergiBasque strategy and setting up the Hydrogen Sector Forum within the Basque Energy Cluster, to be coordinated by PETRONOR. Participation in the new Sector Forum will also take the form of partnering with other cluster associations involved in other hydrogen economy applications. Likewise, ACE will make individual contact with organisations currently not involved with clusters, to assess how they may continue to participate in the Sector Forum.
At the end of the session, Elias Unzueta, from PETRONOR, the new coordinator of the Sector Forum, thanked all who took part, stressed to all present the importance of the challenges and opportunities implicit in developing hydrogen in the Basque Country, and encouraged them to maintain the participation, openness and involvement that characterised the Working Group throughout 2020.
