The session was moderated by Eva Revilla, from EC DG GROW. Julia Walschebauer, from DG ENER, opened the session with a general overview of the situation and competitive positioning of the Renewable energy sector in Europe.
Jose I. He presented 2 collaborative projects at European level that showcase the role of the Basque Energy Cluster in strengthening the competitiveness of the energy value chains: H2020 PLATOON, “Digital PLAtform and analytic TOOls for eNergy” and ELBE, “European Leaders of Blue Energy”, started in 2018 as a European Strategic Cluster Partnership for Internationalization (ESCP-4i) of 6 European clusters with deep knowledge in Marine Renewable energies and funded by DG GROW under the COSME “Clusters Go International” call. Mr. Hormaeche claimed as final remark that “clusters are a key driver to strengthen and reinforce the leadership of the European renewable industrial ecosystem by fostering cross-regional and cross-sectorial collaboration”.
This 7th edition of the European Cluster Conference was organised by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs with support of the European Cluster Collaboration Platform and in collaboration with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy under the German Presidency of the Council of the EU. It brought together over 1000 cluster policy-makers, cluster managers, business practitioners and other stakeholders. The event was a unique opportunity to hear and discuss about recent and future priorities for cluster policies and developments to support sustainable industry development, interregional cooperation and building connections between Europe’s value chains, clusters and ecosystems.
