This poster, awarded with the Best Poster Prize during the IV Marine Energy Conference organised by the Foundation Euskampus in November 2017, shows some results about the numerical studies of the hydrodynamics of the HarshLab floating offshore laboratory concept. The work is the outcome of the collaboration between the CFD-CT group at the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics (BCAM) and the Offshore Renewable Energy Area of Tecnalia Research and Innovation.
Such a collaboration has been developed within the framework of the Joint Research Lab in Offshore Renewable Energy (JRL-ORE), a scientific collaboration between the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), BCAM and Tecnalia R&I for advancing in this field.
The simulations are carried out with FEniCS-HPC, the in-house high-performance scientific computing code for the solution of partial differential equations. FEniCS-HPC is developed at BCAM and KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden. The simulation results look promising compared to the experimental data.
