During a mission coordinated by the ECCP, the Basque Energy Cluster talked about the strengths of the Basque wind power sector at an offshore wind power seminar organised as part of the European Innovation Week in Taiwan. It also met with several of the country's main entities involved in the development of marine energy, as part of the activities planned for the European ELBE project.
From 4 to 8 June the Basque Energy Cluster was able to travel to Taiwan with a European Commission delegation, as part of the European Innovation Week. The mission was coordinated by the ECCP (European Cluster Collaboration Platform), and one of the main aims was to strengthen the relationship with Taiwan in terms of the development of offshore wind power, which already has a project portfolio amounting to 3.5 GW and is waiting to be given an extra 2 GW by the end of June. At one of the seminars, in which the main entities involved in the development of this energy in Taiwan (public institutions, associations and companies) took part, the Basque Energy Cluster was able to present the Wind Energy Basque Country brand, which highlights the strengths of the Basque sector.
At the end of the week, as part of the activities organised by the European ELBE project, the Basque Energy Cluster met with several of the main organisations involved in the development of emerging marine energy (floating offshore, wave power and current power), such as AQUANET POWER, TIER, NTOU, NCKU, NTU, ITRI and TORI-NARLABS. During these meetings they discovered first hand the main testing and demonstration facilities in Taiwan, the most important initiatives in the development of platforms and converters, and the country's prospects in this field.
Over the next few weeks, members will receive a report including the main conclusions of the exploratory mission and the presentations that took place in the sessions and meetings.
