Once again, the Basque Energy Cluster has set up a shared stand at ENLIT Europe under the title “Smart Grids Basque Country,” with the participation of ten Basque companies and several collaborative projects. This international event combines an exhibition area and a complete conference programme with parallel sessions and has brought together the main companies and institutions of the Smart Grids’ sector in Paris from the 28th to the 30th of November.
ENLIT Europe has held a new edition in Paris. ENLIT Europe is the benchmark event to connect the industry and help Europe evolve towards a decarbonised and digitalised energy system for energy transition. On this occasion, they estimated a participation of 700 exhibiting companies, 500 speakers, and about 14,000 attendees.
Ten benchmark Basque companies and institutions in the value chain of smart grids, Ariadna Grid, Barbara, Iberdrola, Merytronic, Ormazabal, Pronutec, R2M Solution, Relyum, Tecnalia, and ZIV, have shared the stand “Smart Grids Basque Country,” covering a total surface of 216m2. In this event, during three days of intense activity, they have presented their solutions, technological portfolios, and skills to give due response to the challenges of smart grid digitalisation and energy sector decarbonisation, thus showcasing the innovative potential and the solid collaboration ecosystem between companies, institutions, and knowledge agents in the Basque Country.
Alongside these companies, the joint stand also included European projects HESTIA and BeFlexible.
The Energy Cluster (ACE) had space in the stand to share several joint venture projects with ESECA and ENERSHARE, funded by the European Commission through the COSME and Horizon Europe programmes, respectively; as well as a series of R&D projects funded by the Basque Government’s Department for Economic Development, Sustainability and the Environment, such as GRETHA and ASTRA-CC (HAZITEK programme), VIRTGRID, and RESINET (ELKARTEK programme). This edition took place slightly after the long-awaited announcement was made public to the Basque electric sector that Bilbao’s candidacy for Enlit Europe 2025 had been successful. The event will be held at the BEC after the strategic alliance was signed between Enlit and Iberdrola, which has started to be materialised in Paris thanks to the participation of Elena León, Global Networks Managing Director at Iberdrola, and Nicolás Arcauz, Smart Grids Director at i-DE as keynote speakers in the conference programme.
This news is an encouraging challenge and implies the international recognition of the Basque Smart Grids sector and for the companies and stakeholders in the value chain, who have actively participated in the collective effort through initiatives such as Enlit on the Road (event and report on the value chain) in 2022.
