The Basque wind energy industry took part in a joint stand entitled "Wind Energy Basque Country", organised by ACE in collaboration with EVE, which brought together the different technological and industrial capacities and the latest developments in the Basque wind energy sector in the exhibition area of WindEurope Bilbao 2022, held at the BEC on April 5, 6 and 7 with more than 9,000 attendees.
Visitors to the joint stand had the opportunity to learn first-hand about the latest developments of Basque companies with regard to the challenges of the sector and the collaboration that exists between companies and knowledge agents to address them. The Basque Energy Association (ACE) stand, with its central message “INDUSTRY FOR THE WIND ENERGY”, highlighted the main data relating to the wind energy sector in the Basque Country and a “map” of the wind energy value chain, showing the location of its partners and exhibitors at the WindEurope Annual Event Bilbao 2022. ACE also exhibited various projects from Basque companies and technology centres in collaboration at its stand: 3 European projects (DURABLE, INNTERESTING and PLATOON) and 3 subsidised by the Basque Government's HAZITEK strategic programme. (FLOAT&M, SEAPOWER and WIND2GRID).
On the first day of the event, José Ignacio Hormaeche, Managing Director of ACE, accompanied by its chairman, Luis Rodriguez-Llopis, and Iñigo Ansola, General Manager of EVE, gave a guided tour of the "Wind Energy Basque Country" joint stand to the authorities, and took the opportunity to outline the potential of the wind energy value chain made up of Basque companies and the latest developments being carried out in the sector. Similarly, innovative floating wind platforms also formed part of the stage during the visit presided over by King Felipe VI, and the President of the Basque Government, Iñigo Urkullu, accompanied by the Minister for Economic Development, Sustainability and the Environment of the Basque Government, Arantxa Tapia; Third Vice-President of the Government and Minister for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, Teresa Ribera; and Director-General for Energy of the European Commission, Ditte Juul Jørgensen; as well as the mayors of Barakaldo and Bilbao, among other authorities and company representatives.
Among the intense interaction and exhibition activities, over the three days of the event there was a space for catering and fun and festive events, including the 'Cluster Beer Party’ that ACE organised on the second day, which attracted a large number of professionals interested in finding out more about the exhibitors at the stand.
This provided a close-up view of the top-level technological solutions offered by the more than 50 Basque companies exhibiting at the joint stand, where ACE's partners showcased their own technological developments, as well as the capabilities of a whole network of auxiliary service companies. ACE also presented the latest edition of the Wind Energy Basque Country Catalogue and, as a new feature, a specific catalogue focused on floating wind energy, Floating Wind Basque Country. The 'Basque Country' brand catalogues are promoted by ACE and their aim is to boost the visibility of Basque companies and entities internationally.
