On 19 January 2017, a work meeting of the RECODE international project was held in Bilbao with the participation of DITREL, ZUNIBAL, TECNALIA and the Basque Energy Cluster, in addition to a team of representatives from ORE CATAPULT, who will provide support in the definition of the dissemination market access strategy of the new products that are being generated.
The consortium of the RECODE project, financed within the framework of the Oceanera-Net programme, is coordinated by TECNALIA and involves ZUNIBAL, DITREL, WAVEC (Portugal), SMARTBAY (Ireland), ORE CATAPULT (United Kingdom) and the Basque Energy Cluster.
This project has the purpose of establishing the global requirements and the specific challenges for the next generation of monitoring, control and connection components for marine energy systems. For this purpose, they are working on the development of four critical components: a surveillance and security control device (ZUNIBAL), a wave measurement buoy (ZUNIBAL), an umbilical cable surveillance device (WAVEC) and a submarine device to cable connector for a floating energy converter (DITREL).
During this first work session of 2017, they carried out the follow-up of the different developments and explored the potential of each of the new products, to define the most appropriate strategy to access the market depending on the competitive advantages and differential factors alongside the experts from the ORE CATAPULT engineering department.
Additionally, the project team visited the facilities of BIMEP. The group was received by the director, Yago Torre-Enciso, who presented the main characteristics of the facilities, and the control and surveillance room of the centre.
