The RIS3 Energy Steering Group gathered on 11 of May 2017 at Lakua, to analyse the development of the projects of the priority technological lines, the undergoing transversal actions, and the advances in the definition and implementation of the identified Strategic Initiatives.
The meeting of the Steering Group, presided by the Energy Cluster, was attended by the Deputy Minister for Industry and Energy, Javier Zarraonandía; the Deputy Minister for Technology and Innovation, Estíbaliz Hernáez; and representatives from CIC energiGUNE, IK4 and Tecnalia Technology Centres, and the agencies SPRI and Innobasque.
During the meeting, they went through the collaborative technology development projects that have been implemented by the sector's companies and technology centres in 2016 and the calls for proposals for 2017. Similarly, they addressed the most relevant transversal actions in the fields of Training and Eco-innovation. The Director of the Basque Energy Cluster also presented the advances in the definition and preparation of some of the Strategic Initiatives identified by the companies within the Energibasque strategy. The following highlights were included under this chapter: business meetings to define the financial and technical feasibility of “HARSH-LAB”, a testing and product validation infrastructure to assess products for the offshore environment that will be located at bimep; the configuration of consortia and the search of funding for the implementation of a demonstration station for floating wind farms (also to be installed at bimep); the implementation of a participatory process with companies for the definition of the scope and establishment of the budgets for a “Smart Grids” demonstration platform. Similarly, Cristina Oyón, from SPRI, spoke of the different initiatives for international positioning of the Energibasque Strategy, through the coordination of the Energy pilot “Vanguard Initiative” and the leadership of the “Marine Renewable Energy” thematic networks and “Smart Grids” within the “Smart Specialisation Platform on Energy” (S3PEnergy).
