Representatives from ten partner companies and four research centres, coordinated by Argolabe Ingeniería and Edinor, met to explore opportunities for collaboration around Energy Communities and application technologies in distributed renewable generation facilities.
The meeting took place on February 15 at the BEC, with the participation of Deloitte, which collaborates with the Basque Energy Cluster in providing advice on opportunities for the energy sector's value chains within the framework of the Spanish Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR). The meeting also included a presentation on the Next Generation EU programme, the keys to the Strategic Project for Economic Recovery and Transformation (PERTE) for renewable energies, renewable hydrogen and storage (PERTE EHRA) and the calls for funding linked to developing Local Energy Communities within the framework of the PRTR, such as the EC Implementa Programme.
Likewise, the concept of regulatory sandboxes as a safe and flexible space for interested agents to test their energy solutions in a controlled environment without the usual regulatory conditions was analysed, and the opportunity that the forthcoming publication of a Royal Decree in the first half of 2022 will represent for regulatory sandboxes in terms of driving flexible energy management projects, managing demand, deploying storage and Energy Communities was highlighted.
The Basque Energy Cluster, with the technological support of Tecnalia, then described a basic approach to defining a collaborative industrial research proposal for submission to the Hazitek Estratégico programme on Energy Communities. Participants discussed the technological developments to be pursued in the framework of the project, and possible case studies in which to validate these developments.
The Working Group on Sustainable Energy Communities is coordinated by Argolabe Ingeniería and Edinor and is made up of the companies Barbara IoT, Carlo Gavazzi, Cegasa, Ekisolar, Giroa-Veolia, R2M Solution, Tecman, Tecuni and ZIV, and the science and technology organisations Deustotech, Ikerlan, Tecnalia and Tekniker.
