Carmelo Angulo, Head of the Environmental Corporate Area at Iberdrola, presented the company’s Corporate Environmental Footprint project to attendees at the Electrical Grids Work Group and a large part of the “Smart Grids Basque Country” Value Chain
The short-term aim of this project is to understand and compare objectively the effect of Iberdrola’s activity in the different environmental impact categories and trace their cause, identifying the environmental aspects and the assets/technologies/regions responsible for them, as an extra element of information for the company’s management system.
Furthermore, in the medium/long term they would like to have a single environmental indicator that would enable them to measure the impact to improve environmentally, benchmark, be more transparent, improve efficiency, mitigate environmental risks, reduce the environmental impact, etc.
Carmelo Angulo also presented the results of the project so far to companies belonging to a large part of the utility value chain. They were able to appreciate Iberdrola’s sustainability and eco-innovation efforts.
In the future, environmental criteria and responsibilities presented by Iberdrola in this meeting will affect their entire supply chain
