The Basque Energy Cluster (ACE) organised a new meeting of the Floating Wind Working Group on July 26 at the Port of Bilbao facilities, which brought together all of the associated companies with an interest in this technological field. ACE reviewed the latest news on the aid programmes that will be launched shortly within the framework of the PRTR funds related to floating wind power, and the upcoming internationalisation activities, while Saitec explained the process of constructing the DemoSATH prototype and then conducted a tour of the port.
ACE once again convened the Floating Wind WG, which on this occasion was attended by 12 associated companies, with the aim of passing on news regarding opportunities for R&D projects in the sector and activities to promote the “Floating Wind Basque Country” brand in international missions and trade fairs.
ACE presented the new Public Hearing that MITECO opened to make arguments on the Regulatory Bases for the programmes for granting aid for investment in pilot projects, test platforms and port infrastructures for marine renewables, together with the draft Resolution of the first call for applications. ACE offered to support companies as far as possible in submitting their arguments, which close on August 19. ACE also presented the Naval Strategic Project for Economic Recovery and Transformation (PERTE), from which companies in the sector could benefit. The first specific call for this PERTE will open in September.
The schedule of international activities promoted by ACE also seems to be complete for floating wind energy up to the end of 2022. ACE showed that it will carry out a mission to Norway in September, another mission to Korea and Japan at the end of October and the beginning of November, and will finish in Bilbao with the first Spanish offshore wind congress, organised by the AEE.
To round off the meeting, SAITEC described the construction process of the DemoSATH prototype, which was inaugurated and launched in the port of Bilbao on July 20. After the presentation, the attendees visited the 2 MW prototype.
