On 12 November, a new Oil&Gas Sector Forum was held at the BEC, coordinated by TUBACEX. Within the framework of the energy transition, the meeting addressed the main challenges and opportunities facing the stakeholders in the Oil&Gas value chain. Among the key technologies for achieving the required levels of decarbonisation, CO2 capture, storage and utilisation (CAUC) technologies had a prominent presence at the Forum. In addition, FLUIDEX presented its international business plan for 2022.
The Sectorial Forum was attended by a large number of people from the sector, with more than 30 people from 22 companies attending. During the meeting, those present were also able to enjoy a networking space with coffee in which to share first-hand information of interest.
On this occasion, the initial presentation was given by GLOBALDATA, which offered a vision of the future prospects for companies in the sector and addressed the challenges and opportunities that the transformation towards low-carbon refineries brings with it. Among the opportunities, he highlighted the commitment to diversification in technologies such as hydrogen, renewable fuels, carbon capture, use and storage, etc., ending the presentation with a general overview of the current positioning of the players in the sector.
This was followed by presentations focused on reviewing the state-of-the-art of CO2 capture, storage and use technologies. PTECO2, the Spanish CO2 Technology Platform, made a diagnosis of the current market situation of CAUC technologies, which TECNALIA then complemented by presenting the different ways of capturing CO2 from a technological point of view. PETRONOR completed this block by presenting the AGGREGACO2 project, a unique initiative supported by the Innovation Fund of the European Commission, which will address the manufacture of aggregates from CO2.
After the coffee break, the presentations focused on sensor technologies. Within the framework of the digitalisation of components in the sector, TUBACEX presented the progress of the SMART OIL&GAS project, focused on the development of new intelligent components for the upstream sector.
FLUIDEX, Association of Fluid Handling Equipment Exporters, completed the day with a presentation of the internationalisation activities planned for 2022, and the services offered to the companies interested in participating in them.
