The Basque Energy Cluster Association (ACE) Working Group on Floating Wind Power is made up of 19 organisations with and interest in this field, coordinated by SAITEC. It has as its mission to: 1) increase competitiveness by means of cooperating with Basque companies currently or potentially active in the floating wind power sector; 2) to propagate an international image of Basque companies in the sector; and 3) to develop a common stance with regard to a potential State-wide strategy aiming at installing floating wind farms in Spain.
The Working Group has selected two activities on which to concentrate initially. The first is to define a joint statement for the preliminary public survey being conducted by the Ministry for Ecological Transition with regard to the Road Map for the Development of Offshore Wind Power and Wave Power in Spain. The second is to jointly define an R&D proposal for the operation and maintenance of floating platforms.
At the launch meeting, held on 5 June, the Working Group drafted a work plan for the statement to be submitted for the Road Map, dividing tasks and defining the work schedule. It also clarified ideas for R&D proposals regarding the operation and maintenance of floating platforms. These will be further developed and discussed in greater depth at the next meeting, scheduled for mid-July, when the working group will select the most interesting proposals in order to begin working on them.
Companies that took part at the meeting: ALERION, BIMEP, CDA, CEIT, CORE MARINE, DITREL, EUSKAL FORGING, IDOM, IKERLAN, ISATI, LIFTRA, Mondragon Unibertsitatea, NAUTILUS FS, NAVACEL, SAITEC, TECNALIA, TEKNIKER, VICINAY y UPV-EHU.
